I think he is limited to square taper as its an electric conversion kit he is using, probably has a bb built in.

Not on the bafang midrive kits, no, it mounts to the motor.

I could do that, but ideally I was looking for something with a removable spider that looked nice, but wasn't too pricey. I'll keep looking, no hurry really.

I reckon two raceface turbine non drive arms would look pretty good

I'll let you know if I stumble over some nice looking cranks with a removable spider that aren't too dear

You may, or may not, recall that I was looking for some cranks recently. Race Face I-beam were the ones, I missed a set on eBay that had a cracked spider retaining ring, do perfect really. Thanks though.
