Pretty inspiring stuff

Genuinely moving. His positive attitude should be an example to us all, especially when the trivial stuff gets to us.

I hope Animal are looking after him.

How right you are MTS, very humbling.

Agreed, I did wonder towards the end if he was a bit in denial though. He's very unlikely to ride a "normal" bike again from the sounds of it. Were I in that position, I'd be heartbroken - and my life and career don't revolve around the cycling.

Inspiring in terms of him trying things and trying to get back to a normal life, but tragic that he hasn't found a viable substitute for his bike.

hmmm. I think it's a bit (a lot) disrespectful to write him off as being in denial, or judging what he can or cannot do. I think the desire to ride a "normal" bike again shows a tremendous strength of character, in the face of a situation where a lot of people would simply give up. I always remember reading 'Of Life And Limb', by Jamie Andrew - a mountaineer who ended up a quadruple amputatee after severe frostbite in the Alps, but went on to climb Kilimanjaro amongst others. If he had written a blog about that ambition following his operations, some people might have accused him of being in denial, instead of giving him credit for getting on with life and not to letting circumstances get the better him.

I think you've misunderstood my meaning. There's no disrespect intended - my comments are tentative and reflective rather than writing him off. I hope and wish for his continued recovery and plenty of life satisfaction whatever he does.

Re:

I know what you meant and thought had crossed my mind too GreenCat.

Denial maybe the wrong choice of word though, with its negative connotations.

Apologies if I misunderstood. I've put my soap box away now anyway, so its all good! ;)

Back on topic though, I didn't even know he had had an accident until I saw that link. Unbelievable stuff.
