posting a frame to australia.........

i've had interest on one of the frames i'm selling from an aussie member.
has anyone else here posted a frame out to Aus ?

if so with whom ? and how much did it cost ?

he says time scale isn't a problem, but he'd like to have it sent as cheaply as possible.

all advice welcomed.

Haven't posted but have received a few...

Look at something like the Parcel2go website and throw in what details you have and you'll get a good estimate and the options.

From memory the last one cost about 150GBP for a steel hardtail frame thoughtfully packed to minimise the overall box size. That got to me in 4 days from being sent so there may be cheaper options if you want to take a slow boat option.

I did three trips to posty and.....HOURS..........repacking a frame to Aaron.
It was still crazy money (for just a frame!). Eventually sent it to NZ and Aaron picked it up from there for way less money.
Don't waste any time looking into alts As I did. There are none......(that I could find).
AND Don't be the "Super nice Guy" doing everything you can to just do the right thing. Been there. Done that and came out with allot of wasted time (though I think Aaron was happyin the end). Bought and sold cars with half the hassle.
No maybe a third.

I didn't realize you had so much hassle during the process. I feel bad. You obviously conducted yourself thoroughly professionally.

BTW, I an still in love with the Funk (& that's really saying something considering the average time i've owned my 90+ bikes has been about 3 Months!)...

They use DHL or Fedex.

Yes the standard postal system is pretty hopeless for anything large other than dual suspension frames and hence is best avoided, but using interparcel, FedEx etc etc makes sending a frame or bike no harder than sending it within the UK - it just costs more.

As a buyer in a relatively remote place its still an easy process to work out how much something will cost and make it easy for a seller. So let the buyer do the leg work next time.

I read it purely as a comment on the frustration involved with what should be a simple task.

I certainly wasn't casting any aspersions Lid, just making comment that I felt bad about the hassle you had with getting my frame in the post!

I like the polished finish of the Funk. It looks so 'clean' that I haven't even bothered to add decals! Maybe if I ever get a Big Fork for it i'll paint the frame to match!
