as far as i'm aware this is not actually possible. there was a piece on radio4 a while ago about it which said all you can really do is delete all the content ie. photos, profile info etc and then deactivate your account, which as you already know does not actually delete the account but suspend it until the next time you log in.

once your account is suspended then you won't appear in any searches or friend's friends lists so i guess thats as good as it gets!

I delited all my friends and set it to private - it doesnt kill it but at least no more invites to 'period party!' or 'rate my dust!' etc

I was encouraged by a friend to join a few months ago. To this day, I honestly don't understand what Facebook is for. Perhaps I'm just not the type that gets a buzz from telling everybody how many Weetabix I ate this morning.
