Retro Newbie
I want to buy this bike. Seller said that frame is cr-mo. But I have never heard of this brand "re-act".
Anybody has an idea what it is?

Thank you

React may be the model, not the make. I take it there are no signs of a top tube decal or a head badge ?
I also take it the butterfly bars are not original. If they are it could indicate the bike originates from continental europe where trekking bikes with those bars are popular.

I asked the seller to weight bike, I waiting for his answer. Possible matterial frame - a usual hi-ten steel.

So, from that last pic, looks like it was bought in Koblenz... since that seems to be where the shop is. Can't be of any more help, sorry. Nice bars though!

Re:

From what can be seen, there's nothing to suggest it's anything special. The chainguard and all the reflectors point to it being an inexpensive bicycle, the sort that might be sold in a supermarket. These often still used grip shifters, quill stems, 1" threaded headsets and square taper bottom brackets long after better, branded bicycles had moved on to more recent set-ups; trigger shifters, threadless headsets etc.

You can still get them today: http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stor ... 65499#tab2, although to be fair, the one in the picture looks considerably better than the 35lbs of bicycle shaped landfill that Halfords are selling. :D

Could be wrong though. Better pictures and a good view of the components might help.

But componets are well and frame looks good.

Re:

Yes, decent components and the forged rear dropouts are definitely a step up from your average cheap supermarket bicycle. I think that chainguard was throwing me off a bit, made the chainset look like one of those cheap ones with an integral chainguard and an all-in-one steel spider with the extra rings spot welded on.

Can't help you with the brand though. Not sure how much the weight of the whole bike will tell you about the frame either, the difference between the lightest steel frame and an entry level plain guage cro-mo frame might only be a pound or so, no more difference than you might get between a lightweight pair of tyres and a heavy pair. :?

I live in Ukraine. Seller wants 120$ for this bike. What price aprox for it in your regions?
Thank you all for the replies.
