Lately I’ve purchased a Wheeler MTB with a full XT (1991) groupset.
The bike was fitted with a Marzocchi suspension fork.

I’ve no idea what kind of fork this is! Perhaps it’s even not a retro thing…

Is there somebody who can tell me what it is?

Any help appreciated  !

Cheers, Will

It looks like what I see being called a XC 500. If you do a search you can see others for comparison.

Earlier than an xc500, could be an xc51 which iirc was the predecessor...
The 91 on the casting is the year so a very early example
Marz won the dh gold in 92 under cully but were little known before that

the first Marzzo was called star fork , and was out in 1991 . i think that is a low end model from 92 .

Stamp clearly shows 91 year, not XC 51 as 51 is powder coated and has different booster. Definitely not low end I'd say it's a XC 400 but can't be 100% sure. Very retro stuff whatever it is :)

The first thing i thought was that it was the Marzocchi Star fork that they first produced in 1991.

I have been wrong in the past though, but i never tell her!

XC150 or XC400

As I have some of it: It looks like an XC400 (or XC150 or XC300).
I believe, they have the same seals .. and I have a lot of spare parts for it.

If you dissassemble it, I can compare it in detail.

Definitly no XC50, XC51, XC500 - this are completly different!

The date code I believe say July 1991, so ready for 1992 model year ?
That might make sense.

According to the Mombat website, the Star Fork was introduced in 1991 -- but it doesn't look like the OPers forks...

Mombat says that the XC300 was introduced in 1992 and supplies an ad from that year with a picture of forks that resemble those in the OP (bottom right)...
