PINK '95 Saracen Powertrax for my girlfriend: FINISHED

The Saracen looks great now it's finished so a big well done mate and your girl friend is 7 inches taller than my Mrs so no short ass compared to my OH ..

Their was a time back in the 80s that i was riding round on an old ladies Raliegh city bike with rod pull brakes and i got quite a few odd looks on that but i wasn't bothered as it did the job until i got my cursed Falcon  ..

Re:

Cheers mate. And yeah shes a tall girl but the smaller frame and short reach suits her female build quite well. Im only an inch taller but she cant ride my zaskar

I guess a full grown man riding a little pink bike is gonna turn some heads but i couldnt give a toss, it doesnt bother me what i look like

My mrs has got a 16 inch 98 Lava Dome which i can ride quite comfortably but theirs no way she can ride my 18 inch 89 Fire Mountain as that couple of inches extra leaves her a little short on reaching the pedals ..

But yes some women prefer the smaller bike frame for comfort reasons plus even if their pretty tall they just might have a shortish arm reach ..

Well yes a full grown male riding a pink bike is known to get second glances as i remember seeing a guy around 20 years ago riding a pink peugeot racing bike and wearing an all pink cycling kit and he wasn't one bit phased by the stares he was getting off people .

Thanks. This has really given me food for thought.

I have read a few blogs about bikes for short women, my wife is 5'1" but at the end of it all its the same message; if you want engagement, build what they want, not what you think is cool.

I showed my wife the pictures of what you have done and she just said "exactly, lovely colour". Now my job is to create a decent bit of engineering - in the right colour!

That's funny how alot of women like bright pinks because when i showed her in doors the pics she completely ignored how the Saracen was thoughtfully put together and said Pink yuk that's aweful  but purple ,lilac or plum well their nice although metallic purple is her favourite ..

Any way 14"-15 frame will suit your mrs for a decent fit and stand over height if your going down the retro route but a sloping top tube will allow up to a 16" modern frame ..
