I maybe a bit late to the party here, but is it not worth trying a threadless Bottom bracket:

They are for damaged threads and lock together without the need for the threads to be intact or correctly threaded.

It seems such a shame to waste the pretty pink frame now that you've come this far.

Mark.
i planned to get one of them, but after looking at em it seems that they only come in 68mm shells and the saracen has 73mm. Which narrows down the options a little but fingers crossed it now looks like the threads should be salvageable

Re:

Progress!!

The bb threads have been chased, just need to find a suitable bottom bracket now... The bold colour gleams nicely in this weather, even if i have left some of my oily fingerprints on it
ive stickered it up with graphics i bought from ebay, they arent going to fool anybody for originals but the black on pink i think looks great :)

oh, and ignore the bar/stem, they're just temporary to make it easier to get the bike in and out of the shed....

Re: PINK Saracen for my girlfriend: Rolling Chassis page 6

I'm sure she will just as long as she doesn't have a long wait as that's what put's a spanner in the works and takes the edge off the excitement ..
