Pinarello steel question

Hello,

I'm interested in this pinarello but the frame doesn't seem to have a model designation or the columbus steel decals for that matter. It has a chromed fork and right chainstay. I asked the seller about the seat post. He told me it takes a 27.2mm. Don't think I can trust that answer completely but I've noticed there's no bridge between the chainstays. Do you think it can be a columbus SL or SLX frame or could it be cromor or aelle?

Thanks in advance.

Does it takes a 27.2mm seatpost and no chainstays bridge as well?

I've been through that catalogue as well as the 1990 but to no avail.

pinarello

I had a Pinarello Stelvio from the mid 90's that sounds just like yours. It was made with Kens dolman steel and the decals fell off in the first year. It was a very nice frame, although a bit on the heavy side. I can't remember if the dropouts were Columbus or Pinarello.

Oh, I've not had it for a couple of years now, so can't remember about the chainstay bridge, but it was definately a 27.2mm seatpost.

yes, almost. The one I saw doesn't have any model designation. Where that one says "asolo" mine just says "Pinarello". The rear brake cable goes over the top tube and not inside as in that one. At least that one has a columbus sticker saying CROMOR and it doesn't have a chainstay bridge as well so I guess that's not a sign that the frame is made of SL or SLX.

Thank you! 8)

Hello!

It's very likely to be columbus SL in my opinion, it'll only be slx if it is a montello, which all had very distinct features, fully chromed back ends and reinforced bbs etc with Pinarello pantograph.

As there seems to be a fair bit of Pinarello knowledge floating around here I thought it might be worth asking about the serial code on my Asolo. I don't know it's specific year, which I'd like to. I've not had much luck online getting any closer to this. The code is four digits, stamped on BB and forks - B378...

Can anyone shed any light on this?
