Pinarello Montello C-Record 1988

I was noted that the generic columbus sticker could indicate a SL Montello, not SLX, so I've removed the BB this afternoon and I coud notice the riffling on seat tube and chainstains, but not on main tube. I took some pics but don't see any riffle there, but as said, I can feel them when I touch the inside of these tubes.

From another forum, I've read there were some SL frames with the SLX seat tube, as this preceded the SLX tubesets and such frames used the generic decal.

So I could have one of these early 1984 Montellos ?

I believe mistery is solved now ... (or almost ;)

As I'm selling the bike , I was really intrigued and wanted to get the full picture, as I really though in the begining it was an SLX montello, and never actually saw an SL one. So I bought a kind of cheap endoscope, to be able to look inside the tubes, as tried before with the smartphone but did not get clear view.

Inside was quite dirty and I have big fingers, so although I was pretty sure I felt rifles on seat tube but not on main tube, I believed that's goint to be the only way , to actually see the rifling - or not to see it, that is the question!

So here results: no rifling on main tube (diagonal tube). Rifling on seat tube , and on chainstays. Here the pics.

Can we conclude that this is one of these rare SL frames with SLX seat tube and chain stays, as a predecessor of later full SLX motello frames ? Could be a rare piece between SL Treviso's and later SLX Montello's or just simply some one ordered the bike like this in the late 80's? That mix of tubing would be a reason maybe why generic columbus decal, not SL, not SLX...

Re:

Definitely not a "very early" Montello but with 1988, its a "late" Montello. And almost no Chrome on it? Thats uncommon for a Montello.
