Pinarello custom build (Dura-Ace, SL) 1990s - Any ideas??

yeah ive noticed that race number hangers seem to be fairly common on concordes .i read here that some of these were ciocc built.
i just wondered about the frame tube badge being at the bottom ? i mean is that where some makes put them ?
maybe these two guys could do a swop!

Yeah, a lot of Concordes seem to have number braze-ons, from what I can tell - pretty much all the models that were Prelude and above did?

Anyway, I've already removed the Pinarello decals using the old hairdryer + nail polish remover technique - only problem is that it leaves the outline of the decals, so I think it will still need a bit of work doing on the paint before I put the Concorde decals on (also I can't find black Prelude ones - anyone know a place I can get some??)

That definitely looks like a prelude as you say. Earlier (ciocc made) Concordes had the Italian Tricolour brazed on the top tube. My GAVINA from late 80's has same lugs and bottom bracket as yours as well as number hanger, but the back brake cable enters top tube above rather than below like yours. Some may have also been made a company called Torpado. Should be a nice ride!

I took it out for a decent trip in the Peaks today, and it is a lovely ride, no doubt about it - nice and sprightly, but also responsive. I don't think the Dura-Ace really likes the lowest gear on the cassette (it was down-geared to 28t by the previous owner), but that's a different matter!

It's happened in pro-ranks more than a few times I believe...I can't think of the actual instances though

Interesting point - I hadn't thought of that. It would make sense - otherwise it's hard to see why you'd re-badge it - unless someone just really liked Pinarello or something. The headbadge was particularly ropey looking, so for that alone it's worth getting it back to looking like a Concorde, I think. I'll see what my local respray place thinks for smoothing out and painting over the decal areas - no need to go to the hassle of full respray at this point, anyway...

So...the Concorde is reborn. The DIY paint job on the areas where the decals were was a bit tricky in places, so considering, I'm pretty happy with how it turned out (as long as no one looks too closely...)

Decals are also not 100% accurate - but all in all, not bad for a £20 spend...

I think that is a really good restoration. I wonder if it was rebadged as a pinarello on purpose or as a mistake.
