Peugeot Aravis - 531 Pro winter tidy up

Bought this yesterday. Visually pretty tired but most of it, including the frame and forks are surprisingly decent.

Always wanted a 531 Pro frameset, this may be a size too big for me but I'll see how I get on.

Groupset is a mix of 105 and rx100 parts and I have enough spare 105 parts to fit a complete 105 group to it :D Haven't seen any Aravis frames with chrome forks, I think the catalogue made reference to them as an option, though!

Seatpost is a bit stiff to move. It has some lateral movent which is good, so it's currently upside down with some oil soaking in. Hopefully that'll be enough to allow it to be removed with ease. Failing that I'll crack out the plus gas.

The overnight soak in oil definitely helped and I managed to remove the seatpost in my lunch break today!

Tonight will be spent cleaning, polishing and probably stripping the headset and re-greasing with a view to getting it back together (hopefully) in time for this coming weekend.

Cleaned it up tonight. Removed the fork and gave it a treatment of coca cola and tinfoil, then moved onto the frame. Started with degreaser, then soapy water, once dried I gave it a t-cut and polish then a brasso and polish. I then soaked the headset parts in petrol to lift the dry grease and reassembled with new grease.

Can't be doing with any more cleaning... It's looking a lot fresher in my opinion!

Spent the last couple of nights building her up. Had to drill a couple of chainring bolts out of my 105 crank which was fun, so I could fit a 39t inner ring instead using the lung-busting 42t that was fitted! Only job left is to fit new bar tape, but i'll do that tomorrow once i'm happy with brake positions. Could do with some new brake pads as well.

Touched up a few of the marks with some nail varnish too - makes it look a lot more presentable from a distance!
