Peugeot 3-speed with buckled 650b rims.... what next?

Right... we're back on the road and loving it! The new wheels are great, and the 44mm Continentals feel like the right thickness of tyre for the amount of going up and down kerbs and cobbles and potholes entailed in my cycle route to work, and the general atrociousness of Manchester's roads. Thanks to everyone, particularly Graham, for your help.

It's interesting that I'm pretty sure I'm faster on my way to work on this bike than on either of my road bikes, or my hybrid that I sold last year. It's a mainly traffic free route that involves lots of speed bumps, bumping up and down from paths on to roads, crossing tram lines and so on, so I have the confidence to take all that much faster on the thicker tyres and straight handlebars of this bike than I do on riding on the hoods of my road bikes - even though the top speed of the Peugeot is about 7mph slower.

And I think it says a lot about the simplicity of the Sturmey Archer 3-speed, which I would still rather have around town than any fixie or derailleur set-up - the hybrid also had straight handlebars and thick tyres and was technically still a good 5mph faster in top gear... yet for overall point to point journey time somehow the Peugeot is better. I can't explain it.
