When I'm out on the roadbike, I normally interpret two short taps on the horn (a "toot toot" if you will) as a friendly request/I'm here type signal, and a longer "PAAARP" as aggression.

One of these will result in my facilitating the driver's pregress as quickly and as safely as possible, the other will result in somewhat less polite behaviour from me.

true. I was walking to my then local bike shop. And the SS rider was not at the side of the road but not in the middle. So the middle aged driver tooted and drove past. That was it off he went at the lights kick. Then when the drive tried to open his door the ride pushed his door shut and wouldn't let him out of his car. After more swearing he rode off fast.
