After spending too long looking and not buying i thought sod it and bagged myself a couple of my childhood dream bikes the pashley 26mhz. A few lucky guys i knew used to ride them but unfortunatly my mother couldnt afford anything like this so i was stuck with my saracen x-ile
. Years pased and when i was earning my own money, motorbikes / booze and women took 1st place and the street riding slowly tuned into a thing of the past..
20 years on (feels like 5 mins) i am coming out of the other end of the cycle and wanting to treat myself and own somthing i could never have had back in the day. I done some searching around and after recently joining this forum i noticed a bike for sale on a facebook group im in.
After a small bit of quibble with the seller we agreed a price and 2 days later the postman dropped off this beauty
The bike came with XTR v brakes but my go to braking was always the HS33 for looks and performance so I scouted marketplace for brakes, found this set for £115 in Immaculate condition,
The brakes came attached to a free bike which I immediately sold for £80
so total paid was £35 for some mint brakes
.
Into the 26mhz,
She arrived with no chain tensioner and a rusty chain, I hit wiggle up for a gusset tensioner and a kmc single spd chain and a fitted the magura brakes.
I wanted to try and keep thigs era specific so hunted down some Azonic bars and stem (not sure if i like them)
