Re:

Pleased to hear your Premiere is cooperating! I like the look of this one actually - mine remains just one more misdemeanor away from the recycling plant. ;)

you need to do some 'bonding' - a little low-cost fettling maybe

should the day ever come.....dibs on the wheels.!

Re:

Dibs on the wheels?

The 'new' wheels for the Shed are like-for-like period steel ones! Bought 3 from eBay for the grand total of 99p... Then had to pick them up from some nice bloke on the Wirral, which was a little embarrassing! First ride was through a torrential downpour, which made things doubly interesting!

So, if I give up on the Pug, the wheels are yours!!!!

Looks a tidy bike that. You've done a smashing job :-)
Well done.

thanks....the overall cost wasn't too bad after all - and assembly was enjoyable
should have bought new wheels though, but all that i saw were 130mm OLN
next project may be to build my own over the winter

we're getting better weather up here now - so out again tomorrow.... :)

PS - hope you're progressing too

Hi,
The "unknown Dawes" has now been mostly stripped of paint by hand/nitromors and sweat/tears :-)
As the frame was neglected, it does have a few rust points that I'll fill with silver solder when I'm happy that I've removed all of the rust.
I will update for all to see at the weekend with a photo or 2.

As for your wheels. I would think the rear dropouts will be either 120 or 126 OLN, so 130 should squeeze in OK as you've got a steel frame.
If you're really brave, you could have a go at re spacing the frame.
I've not done it, but there's quite a good guide here on the Sheldon Brown web page. Just scroll done to the "Spreading the Frame" bit down the page.

Such a mine of info on here on all bike related stuff :-) One of my favourite places on the web.

hard going - used to use that to strip rifle stocks

i bought a set of used alloy Weinmann 16-622 with 124 OLN - perfect
well almost - had to replace 9 spokes as he 'forgot' to mention the chain had jumped into the spokes..!
......

i had a thread on that - comments ranged from 'easy' to 'no way'

great sunny weather up here - been getting in the afternoon rides............john
