Well, ate the bullet this morning.

Been hunting for one for a few years.... most I see are heavily used/beat-to-hell or tan sidewalls.

From Italy shipping to Canada.... a pair of black wall NOS Smoke Lite - 1.9 tires.

Only cost me $194.768 CDN with exchange and shipping.

One will be a rider.... suspect it will end up on the '92 Vertex.... the other for show

Telling a buddy about it on the phone and his response was "this is why you are single and not wanting to date...." lol

I am excited to get them.

No kidding, it was a case of 'get in the chopper!' Like yourself, I'm always on the lookout for good vintage 26 inch rubber, especially matched sets. I once bought a whole bike just for the tires.

Holy mackey doodie that's a lot of dollars! Now I feel better about driving 250 km to pick up a used (barely) pair of Spesh Ground Control/Masters. Gotta stock up on quality tires. Still regretting the $50 Bianchi on Ritchey Megabites that I left at a guy's place because I didn't want another frame.
I avoid international shipping into Canuckistan because of the ridiculous duties and taxes. I used to get stuff shipped to a postal address across the border, but I ain't going there for the next few years, cuz "elbows up".
I don't mind spending for vintage gear, but I don't like paying the government for the privilege. Would you care to provide a breakdown of purchase price vs fees and shipping?

Smokes have been one of my fave tyres
Some years ago now there were quite a few boxed folding Smoke Lite Compes going around. I snagged a pair of black walls, and a trio of tan walls. They are the only NOS tyre I feel likely to actually use at some point.
