help!

been doing a bit of diy spraying and hit an issue - the dreaded fisheye. i assume this is caused by contaminants on the job.

how do i resolve the issue? smooth everything back off and get it super clean or do i have to start the whole process again?

Depnds on how bad it is, and what sort of paint you are using. If its a metalic, then its really a question of starting again

If its a solid colour, you should just get away with dealing with the issue locally... ie' flatting back, re-primer locally, and re-prepping the rest of the frame... ie just flatting back the rest of the frame

Most likely cause by moisture either in the paint, or on the frame, but grease from fingers or some other contaminant

It is satin black cellulose .

Earlier in the day I polished a set of alloy wheels so I suspect it is silicone residue.

Schoolboy error

thanks

Its when the paint forms little craters when wet, and pulls away from the centre, leaving a hole through to the primer below... kind of like a bomb crater or meteor impact on the moon

So frustrating, got some on the roof of my beetle when I painted it, and ended up redoing the whole car
