Can't believe they are going back to their "roots" with classic looking old steel designs

They were more advanced 20 years ago and now just seem to want to ride the "retro" wave with their designs and colours

Still no stock of the 104 in the country and they are already jumping on the 29er wagon...

Thoughts...

That's the whole point, they don't have roots in that direction but almost what to "adopt" them...

watch out for the next big thing then! 650b wheel size. whatever that maybe?
apparantly the Americans are jumping on that as the "next best thing" now.

The dark cynic in me says fashionable bikes sell... 20 years ago tech innovation and racing was fashionable, now 'lovely' bikes are fashionable. Hence a muted, filleted, chromed Pace.

Ok, maybe I should just cut them some slack but coming from the man that pours scorn on my wife every time he sees her riding her Single speed F2...

I guess that's where the money is these days...History

That specific build is hideous :(

They've taken all the latest trends and come up with a completely disproportioned monstrosity. It kinda looks like a childs bike. The colour is horrible too.

Pace used to be about innovation, ho hum.

The Cycling world has changed hugely in the last 20 years.

I remember bikes couldn't be built fast enough at the height of the sport. Every bike was your play/downhill/xc/comuter bike.

The sport has fractured so much into ever smaller and smaller groups that manufacturers like Pace need to concentrate on a more focused build. I still think, better that than falling between two stools and building something nobody wants/needs.

Lets face it, the market changes so quickly that bike manufacturers need to adapt. When ordering a new bike specc is only a mouse click away, things tend to become copies of each other.

I feel most bikes these days lack any kind of soul, which is why more and more people will buy/collect/ride retro as the years go on.

Invention has been replaced by gimickry by some bike companies. Some have allways relied on it, ( I'm not going to open that can of worms!)

Personaly I like the direction Pace are taking, as I never rated them much anyway. Also I'd much rather see quality steel frames being built again than some of the ugly Carbon things that I see around.
al. :D

Thank god it's not just me

The STW massiv' seem to have fallen in love with it

Saw Adrian out riding it last night, funny to see the man who said he would never ride a single speed out on one...

single speed

At first glance I assumed it was running a Shimano Alfine hub, but the full length cable running along the downtube is actually the rear brake cable?

I'm struggling to think of an advantage to that routing, except for the sake of it?
