Pace RC45 stem for sale or swap

Pace RC45 Stem 1 1/8" 130mm, 0 deg rise. Silver. Had this for years, bought it new, never used. Finally thought I had the perfect bike for it to grace but I need a stem which is 1" ahead, so it`s now surplus to requirements. there are a few minor marks from storage (photo makes it look terrible!)

£40 but would really like to swap or p/x cash either way it for a decent 1" 130/135mm reach ahead stem, something like a Control Tech, Ringle or similar, prefer silver but I`m getting desperate.

why dont you use a shim?

or i have a nos 1 inch ahead syncros but its black

I`ve tried with a 1" reduction shim but no matter how tight you do the clamp bolt up the stem will still spin when I put the front wheel between my legs and turn the bars. I really want to use this stem on my project so any ideas welcome!

I`ve degreased the stem, shim and steerer, and the split in the shim is lined up with the internal clamp. Only thing I can think of is the fork steerer itself which is a 1" dia piece of polished stainless steel. Perhaps I should get an alloy steerer?

ive had 2 pace stems and tried to swap one over using a shim once - it was having none of it. its hard enough trying to get em tight on a 1 1/8 never mind a 1" with a shim :cry:
theyre lovely things - just wish i could get mine to nip down a little bit more.

What he said.

They're lovely stems, but they're not vice like on the steerer. They're more...'will tighten enough' than steerer crushers.
I doubt very much that youll get one to work with a shim.

Shame really.

I've got a new in packet Syncros inch aheadstem in silver and a like new Control Tech in the same. I think both are about 140 though. PM me if youw ant more details
