Following from my Orange Evo2 Retromod over the summer, I'm creating my next bike, ready to hit the mountain off-road trails of the UAE around Hatta, Fujairah and Ras Al Khaimah.
There's been a huge increase in interest for off-road trails here recently with what used to be camel tracks through wadi's transformed by some dedicated riders in to proper trails, with the first centre in Hatta opening a few months back, with camping facilities, showers and toilets on site.
Always fancied heading in to the mountains but didn't fancy it on a fully rigid Orange so decided my next bike would be something British and something a bit different.
Been collecting the bits for a few months now, which basically started when I had a change of heart and put carbon rigid forks on the Orange and kept the NOS Pace RC40 XCAM Factory forks I bought from Tim for something a bit more special.
Picking everything up second hand, and in no rush, has meant I could shop around and find some bargains along the way. Drove a hard bargain with treacle to buy some of this bits off his old Pace RC300 to come up with a spec as follows;
2008 Pace RC405 Free Floater with DT Swiss MT212 Shock
Pace RC40 XCAM Factory forks
Middleburn RS8 Crank (2 and 3 ring set up - will decide which to stick with one I try the trails) (polished silver)
XTR Fr/Rr Mech and Shifters (10 Speed)
XT Rear Cassette
Hope Tech 2 Brakes
ZTR Stans Flow EX on Hope Pro II Hubs (Black / anodised red)
Hope Stem
UAE Atom Carbon Risers
Will be a week or two until I get it built and then probably the new year by the time I ride it as off to Nepal for Christmas/NY).
