Pace RC38 Airforce LT lockout cable removal question

I've got hold of some RC38 Airforce LT forks and the lockout does not work, but they work fine apart from that. I'm not overly bothered about lockout, so does anyone know if I can just remove the cable from the little plunger thingy and leave it in situ and block the hole. Or shall I remove it completley. I have tried bouncing on them with and without it fitted and makes no difference, so not sure what best approach is.

Still looking for V brake mounts for them by the way if anyone has a set

I have the RC38 Airforce forks (not the LT version though) and recently removed the lockout as the cable had broken.
You can remove the centre of the top of the left leg (it has 2 small holes in it, so use some circlip or needle nose pliers to unscrew it), the lockout widget lives inside there at the top.
With my lockout cable being broken it was easy enough to remove the cable and lockout, and although you can disconnect the other end of the cable from the lockout lever you may find it easier to snip the cable and remove the lot. I now have no lockout function, and no redundant lockout lever and cable either, but if you wanted to retain the lockout for future use then this might not be the way to go for you.
Try asking Tim "justbackdated" on here though, he runs "Fork English" and knows all about the Pace forks, you might find there's an easy or inexpensive fix for the lockout problem you have.

I had a pair of these once and, from memory, if you just remove the cable, the default position is locked out.
Great design from Pace, especially since the lockout cable is vertical and so easily bent if the forks rotate under the down tube...

Thanks for the info guys. I have messaged Tim, just waiting for a response.
I'm sure there is a way round it :-)

I was thinking to just cut wire, then put a small spacer under the cap that will hold the valve thing down. Trouble is they have a leak so lockout not working anyway. So I don't know what position it needs to be in to be locked out i.e up or down.
