Pace RC36 manual

Evening all,

I've just acquired a pair of Pace RC36s, Proclass I think.. Anyway I understand that they can be fettled with to make them 100mm travel rather than the 80mm they're currently set up at. The Pace website only has a manual for the hollowforms and other than a few dead links on google I've not been able to find the manual and was wondering if anyone had a copy electronically.

Thanks in advance,

Dave

You need a pair of spacers and spring to make an RC36 100mm.

Job itself is pretty straight forward - all Pro Class forks were sold as 100mm and you could remove 2cm from the spring stack. So chances are reasonably good that there are some out there.

If it is the original 1998 Pro with the goldie legs there is a 20mm spring in each leg and a spacer that is added or removed to alter the travel from 80 to 100 and vicey versey.

If it is the later Pro Class 2 with the magnesium dropouts and single spring stack then the travel is adjusted only by moving the 20mm spring and not removing it. The spring to move is the small lower spring in the stack; for 100mm travel the spring is attatched to the main stack[4 springs in all] and is above the flange on the spring rod; for 80mm travel the spring and the spacer it is fitted into are moved to below the flange and clipped to the topout spring which is already below and clipped to the spring rod flange.
you have to remove the springs and the spring rod assy to do this so the carbons have to come off too

Dont forget for safety to replace the circlips with new ones too; they can get a bit tired and break-I have them in packets of ten :D

Hope that helps.

is this just for the pro class fork or can you adjust the travel on others ? got the evo version and am i right in thinking these are 72mm

 send the bits anyway-they could do with a service  :D

bolly-the 1998 RC36 Evo did not have the extra spring from standard that the goldie pro version had, although an upgrade kit was available to extend the fork which may have been fitted in the past-or not? The standard 1998 RC36 has 2 springs in each leg; the Pro has 3. Travel was somewhere about 60 to 65mm standard and about 80 for the pro, or thereabouts.

Well I'm told they were done in October and haven't really been used since but I'm not sure about this. How much are we talking?

thanks for the info justbackdated have had the forks since new just need to strip them down and see what i need to increase the travel . hopefully some longer springs might come up for sale.
