The low-down:
Evo2 have travel adjustment by moving[not REmoving] the 20mm internal supplementary spring and applying the correct guides/spacers.
Oil damped with 10wt oil; black knob is rebound adjust [notorious for unbonding itself; don't unscrew more than 6 turns as it wont make any difference]; small screw is compression adjust.
Spring preload is adjustable by the large screw head under the black small cap on spring side.
Air spring is adjustable via Schrader valve at the base of cart side[40psi factory setting] Should'nt need more than 60psi-if so you need a hard spring fitting in place of the medium. The air spring will leak[again notorious] and requires fairly frequent cleaning.
Unbonded dropouts not uncommon, as are broken bridges[not available] and scored damper rods.
Ride is excellent due to mix of air and coil springing and they are reasonably stiff for a light XC fork. Disc mounts and v-mounts were band-on type.
All of the above stands for the Evo3 too except for magnesium dropouts incorporating the disc mount.
