Pace RC35MXCD

Right, I picked up a pair of RC35's on eBay last year for my '91 Sonic hardtail, but they never really got used because the elastomers had gone to mush. I finally picked up a set of elastomers on eBay last week (ref no 181381264840) and I stripped the forks this week to fit them. It's only then that I discovered that the forks are MXCD's with the full 60mm travel, and there are 8 bumpers per leg - the pack I got only had 10 in total. I've been told that Pace don't do the full kit any more, does anyone know if that's correct?

Anyway, anyone got any suggestions as to what I can do with the forks?

Send Tim (justbackdated) a message... He has most things Pace related. 8)

Last time i spoke to him he only had super firm elastomers left but you can mix and match with your current elastomers.

Re:

They're rubbish really, I'll skip for you.

No, just kidding. I just bought a new set of elastomers for mine from Pace, medium only available from them. (39.95), They also do replacement foil decals.

Apparently the medium elastomers are only good for riders up to 11.5 stone, I was lucky and when i stripped mine they had 6 medium mush and two firm (dark blue) on each side. So i've kept the firm ones and just replaced the mediums.

I got mine from suspensionforkparts.net and after customs charges mine were over £50!!!

again i bought medium but i have 4 left over dark blue ones from before the service..where in the stack should i put them as i'm a little heavier than 11.5 stone?

Unfortunately Pace don't have MXCD decals but they have most others.

Re:

This is the set up I went with, but I was only replicating the original set up. IIRC the instructions suggested that you could play around with positions and combinations to suit the individual.

Pace definitely do have replacement foil decals for the MCXD, they're not on the website but they are £15

Hope that helps.

Re:

Thanks folks. I couldn't see the elastomers on the Pace site, but I'll mail them and ask what they have. I tried fitting the new ones and using some of the better original ones, but they just sagged to half the travel immediately, so something's not right. I'll drop Tim a PM too, as he seems to be the font of all knowledge things Pace. Cheers everyone!

Re:

If they're not staying up I would start by replacing all the old elastomers with new. If they still sag, then you know the problem is elsewhere.

I believe that Pace have only just re-released the decals. Hence they're not on the site, if you ring them, they will take the order on the phone.

Cheers for that bud. i'll give that a go in the morning.

Re:

I downloaded the manual as a pdf from www.suspensionforks.net/pace and notice that for 1996 standard elastomers fitted to the MCXD were 2 blue (hard) , 5 natural (medium) and 1 yellow (soft). It also says that they should be fitted hardest at the top.

Interestingly, the rocker spring for cantilever brakes is specific for left or right mounted front brake lever.

I would post the manual for other members to use but can't work out how. I'm happy to email it as an attachment if anyone wants.
