Pace RC35 Skewer Rebuild

Re:

No worries

Sorry to all for the lack of attendance on RB, I have been otherwise engaged a lot of the time recently!!

Best to take that second small washer off the damper bolt though, keep it as a spare. When you fit the new elastomers[use only Pace grease] you will need to compress the fork a fair bit the get the damper bolts to re-engage in the stanchion end plugs. Helps if you've got 3 arms!!

If you are over 13st[not sure what that is in the new fangled!!] then go for hard elasto. Mediums if under, but the current stock of mediums at Pace are a little on the hard side at the moment!!

Cheers
Tim

Well thanks guys for all the info and help you gave me on the servicing of my forks.
Got my new Hard elastomers and seals through the post today and set too work as soon as I received them.
My only wish was I should have got the Medium Spring rate as they are solid. Definitely won't be bottoming them out. Haha
Not too bad looking for a 24 year old fork if you ask me??
Thanks again lads,

Great job RoscoP_co ! any pics of your forks on bike and fully setup ?

I took your advice of Autosol (what an amazing product for anything metal it seems! - puts brasso and duraglit into the shade...)

I got Elastomers from johndeverill(and plenty of advice and help ) Tim justbackdated, and assembling just now .

The reseating of the stansions and attaching the outer legs scewer is annoying AF !

I;ll add my propgress pics too.
best, K

Hi dynatrax
I put the forks back onto a Raleigh Ti2000 and took it over to an apartment we rent in Spain. I usually get to ride it 2 or 3 times a year but haven’t made it out for a while. Gutted!! I thought the terrain over there would be too harsh for the forks but they are awesome!! Glad I purchased the hard elastomers. Here are a few pics.....
