 Hi there, not exactly sure what to do on this forum thing but I'M sure you will all help me along and keep me right ! I am 33 and back into mountain biking in a big way for the last 2 years having a 16 year rest ! I have got some lovely bikes and kept all my old ones (specialized rockhopper 1993, kona muni mula 1995, monty t219 and a proflex 855) I am currently going through a big Pace revival in my life ! I could never afford one back in the day so got one of the amazing rc129, rc250t and now got a rc300 frame. This frame cost me £125 but it had the dreaded cracks on the headtube ! My initial reason for buying the frame was to have i t sat on my garage wall as a piece of art ! But as soon as I opened the box from the courier I fell in love with the bike and thought it deserved another stab at getting on those north york moors again ! I will post photos and keep you all posted with my progress !

Welcome to the site, as you may have seen there is a good following for Pace here. It sounds like you'll fit right in.

I was similar when I joined this site, bit of a break and then a desire to buy all the bikes I wanted as a youngster...that meant Pace for me too. (The collection currently stands at 10 square tubers!

I look forwards to your progress, I have had one of my RC300s on my work stand waiting for inspiration for a couple of months now :(

As Jerky said, welcome to the site and good to see another Pace fanatic ;)

I own two at the moment, an RC200F8 and an RC300 that I managed to get hold in the last couple of months. The RC200 I have owned since new, bought it in 1999 if I remember right, unfortunately it suffered with a head tube crack late last year but I managed to repair it with the help of a friend.

Click on the RC200F8 link in my signature to see how I went about the repair, might give you some ideas on how to sort your RC300.

I look forward to seeing your progress.

Ian :)

Welcome!

Another person too old for this! My story is the same as yours and Jerky's. On my third pace now, having sold my old rc200f5 (owned since the nineties) and a rc300 (to jerky) this year and found my perfect rc300 in pewter this summer. It is now my trail bike, with modern kit and is the best riding bike I have owned. Was only riding it a few hours ago up in the hills.

What colour / spec / size is yours?

Treacle

Like wise to treacle, the 300 is my favourite riding bike. (and I have owned a fair amount of quality metal these days) Also likewise I was riding a few hour ago, decided to ride from the office (southend-on-sea) to home (central London)

Well if we're going down that road, I was riding my 300 a few hours ago too in Afan......albeit with the missus so was more of leisurely one today  ;)

rc300

hi there people ! wow loads of replies ! I will try and work out how to put photos up later on today. I have been looking at some of your builds over the past few months, many thanks for your inspiration :D I have been scouring the world (not exagerating) for a piece of 7020 t6 tube to rebuild the rc300 frame. I was told by everyone "nah you dont want that grade, 6086 will do" But Adrian (AC) told me that it had to be that grade, so who was I to argue with the Man who designed it ! Anyway, after 4 months of searching I have got myself a billet of 7020 t6 and its getting machined into shape next saturday ! :D :D Ive made a jig at work to keep all the tubes in posittion before we cut the old head tube off so realignment shall be sweet ! I'm off to go out on my Pace 29er now and will return with some photos so far for you to look at !
