Pace RC200 + Vbrakes

Apologies in advance if the following is a stupid question:

I thought i would be able to get away with fitting v brakes to my RC 200 F3 frame, but they are crap. Is this because the setup is designed for Cantis? The V's and pads themselves are reasonable good, so dont know if its just that i need to set them up better or i just need to use a set of cantis?

Cheers in advance

What V brakes are you using?? and are you using v brake levers, or your old ones?

They should be at the very least as good as cantis and in most cases much better but they won't work with levers designed for canti brakes.

When you say crap, what do you mean?

The canti's on the back of my F3 felt really spongy, this was due to an alarming amount of flex in the seat-stays. I've fitted a brake booster and all is well.

They are a set of Avid leavers and brakes. Nothing special but worked fine previously on my Marin. I will have a play with the setup.

Cheers

By crap i mean that you put them on full and the wheel still turns. I have changed the pads to see if that was the issue. As mentioned they did work fine on my other bike, so it is probably just setup. I Just wondered if it was to do with the positioning of the brakes as they frame was designed for Cantis rather than the brakes themselves. Will probably invest in a brake booster as wel once i have played around with the setup some more.

Have considered that, but am running it as a single speed with dropouts purchased off your goodself and have been warned there are issues using a rear disc with a single speed
