Oxfordshire speed cameras

Apparently being switched off at the end of the month.

Not that I drive through Oxfordshire but it's good news if it goes ahead

Mobile's will still be in operation, but they're only few and far between..

I only use the A34 in Oxfordshire and the only cameras are forward facing and they cannot read the plate on the front of my car anyway

Why is it a Good Thing (TM)?

Surely roadside GATSOs are a stupidity tax? Aren't they normally painted bright orange, or some other lurid colour, and pretty damned difficult to miss?

Mobile speed traps, I could understand the glee - after all, that's just not cricket - but fixed GATSOs? I'm not getting it...

One month too late for me - got stung by the one in woodstock the other day.

(I would agree that they are a stupid tax - its big, yellow, signposted and you can see it for half a mile) but I still went by it a bit quick.
