Ow!

Glad you're OK; I had something like this last year.

The problem that I had was that it's almost impossible to put a price on the worth of bikes; especially retrobikes. Some people look at one of 'our' bikes and think it's just an old pile of crap when we've put love and care, tracked down parts etc. into it. Nobody gets a receipt for our trades so the question is how do you value it for insurance purposes? I got very little for my trashed Proflex last year and it was a rather pretty thing - a broken frame put a stop to that. As I was completely uninjured (I bailed and fortunately it was very wet and I just slid along the road) I got nothing that way either.

Oh my....how are you doing now after the accident? i hope you back in the road but this time take extra careful to avoid the accident.

firstly im glad your ok and able to post here, good luck with the small injuries you must have......i guess any regular cyclist will encounter this at some point.....with regard to the value of our kit, i was knocked off my 1991 trek 8000 a few years ago by an uninsured idiot, it was period correct with mag 21 forks, dx groupo, mavic, ..........etc etc,you get the picture......i had owned it from new and in it were all my memories of racing it all over the country as a young lad.......after 2 years of legal action i was awarded £150 for my pride and joy which split in two during the crash.......i was lucky to come away with minor injuries but the injustice of loosing the bike to such a needless incident grates on me to this day....i was certainly a victim of most people having a view of an 18 year old bike as knackered scrap metal......
