Orange P7

I have mentioned on a couple of other threads on here I have seen an Orange P7 at a local 2nd hand shop. The price tag on it was £195. I went and took a further look at it today and think it's a non starter. After taking these pics had a chat with the shop owner and it seems they added all the running gear from their parts bin, shame really. Frame is actually really tatty too. He did knowck it down to £150 straight away though.....

Ah, when you said orange I thought you meant it was an orange Orange P7. I'm particularly partial to them, I must say, c97/98 IIRC.

As far as this one is concerned, I must agree that it looks a bit off, but just in my opinion:

a. it would be transformed by a good clean and polish, it could be that all/almost all of that brown stuff is just on the surface and there only through neglect, difficult to be sure without seeing it though

b. those F7 forks are such good forks, way more fun even than triple-butted P2s IMPO

c. you could defray c£20 of your outlay by selling that drinks cage (WITH L-bend!) here or on eBay, astonished to see it on there TBH

So you say the kit isn't up to much, but must work, he might go below £150, you could get £20 of that back and it's a P7. For the cost of watching the Albion five times. I know which I'd prefer, but then that's just me.

I agree.

Maybe an offer a little lower and see if he bites? There is a good bike underneath the cheap stuff.

Think I will probably walk away from this one.... just that I have this vision in my head of how it could look - damn sweet! But I reckon might be a bit too much for me on my first dibs into the world or retro restoration.

Then again if I could get it cheaper..... oh I don't know.... btw missed a FREE Ti Marin the other day :(

TMS bikes in West Worthing is that? might go and have a look see what they got and have a nudge at the orange

Hi James. Yeah it is TMS. They didn't have a great deal of interest in (for me) apart from the orange. A few fairly modernish Kona's, a FS monstrosity and a load of cheapo tut. I keep half thinking I should go for the orange but as I have only just started this retro mullarky I don't want to be put off by a bad purchase.

Can you point me in the direction of any good retro outlets round here?
