...as I'm the only one who will stand up on here and recommend these

Of course, you'll have to convert to an Aheadset if that's a threaded steerer...

Thanks mate, it's 1" steerer so is that the right one? so do use my bearings ?or complete new ahead set? The thread barely reaches the top of my bearing set. Maybe another photo to illustrate....
To show where it comes up to....

Yes, it;s the 25.4/22.2mm version you require...

...if you have a threaded headset and a quill stem you'll need a Aheadset and stem instead.

I've used them since 2005 as it's enabled me to pick up some cheap forks from eBay (particularly P2's) because the steerers have been cut so short nobody wanted them

Don't have a stem yet but have plenty of 1 1/8th ahead ones so that'll solve both problems.

Someone else explained tis solution to me at work today, so at £11 quid odd it looks a winner, just saw a 1" ritchey ahead set on eBay guess there's plenty about, also will use the lx (for threaded) one I was gonna use on another project

 probably...

...I don't don't see anything wrong with using an 'extender,' been doing so since long before I discovered RB; not a universally shared point of view though

I don't see a problem with it either.

I never saw the thread, just remember 'the thread' being mentioned in other threads!
