Yep - you busted me James, its all sewn up chaps

To be honest this isn't one for me I don't think.

I'd like one of the black ones like in a MB International article, better proportioned IMO - this one is a bit 'tall' and upright looking for me - not a massive fan of the Overburys esq geomtery, but they were all custom built so finding 'the one' could and probably will never happen.

Would like to see it in the flesh though and happy to help possible buyers with pics/extra detail if the seller agrees.

i know almost nothing about these but weren't they all black?

They must not have been, that one in the old thread looks about as honest as you can get. The eBay one looks very similar to the one in that thread, you can even see the little embossed Orange logo on the seat tube in the second eBay pic if I'm not mistaken.

Must admit I thought the 'Orange' decal looked more like the 92/3 vintage and not in line with this frame being an early Formula so I wondered if it had been resprayed bitd.

Managed to get the seller to tell me he wanted around £160 for it so planned to try and bag it this morning when I got back from work then speed up there and hand over the cash before anyone else bid but by the time I got chance to log on today it'd hit £300

Win some, lose some. I can't afford it now. Saying that, I agree with Nevada and would prefer a later one built by Steve with the monostay. Another thing that slowed me down was that I was having email tennis with the chap but when I asked if the different coloured area at the top of the seat tube was a repaint after repair he shut up. Hope it turns out to be ace and someone on here wins. :D

i've also been in contact with him, nice chap then it went downhill a bit once some 'nice chap' explained to him that there are only seven of these knocking around and he should be looking at a £1000 payday - great stuff

1,000? I hope he hasn't got that in mind as a reality otherwise he's going to be left dissapointed.

I would, bearing in mind with days still left, ask them for close up pics of the seat tube area in the different red to ensure it's cosher and not a damage repair. I'd hate to spend big and find a issue was there. It looks okay but that is the only area that keeps catching my eye.

Seven left? I'm pretty sure it was 2 yates and 6 donahue?

485 so far...blimey

Going to have a look at this on the way home today - I will get some decent pics, measurements, serial numbers etc and post them up here.

If anyone wants something in particular let me know.

The chap asked me if he should accept a cash offer of £500, I advised against it and seeing as it cleared £550 last night only just into the start of the listing I was probably right.

If he lets the auction run then the £1000 mark may not be far off - the 753 Zinn went for more that that - it scored points on condition and original parts but isn't as rare or mythical a beast, it is a beauty though Carl ;)

Does anyone know how many of the wishbone stay formulas were made? Are they in addition to the 8 (2 yates and 6 donahue) that have the fast back stays? Has anyone seen one recently? Dam I'd like one of those!
