Orange. . . . .Formula?????

Good to see it looks as if a Retrobiker will get this now, I guess the real question would be, after all the work's been done is it a garage queen or a rider?

Looking forward to when a black mono stay Formula turns up next week :D

Very interesting watching this play out. I know little about these Formula's, but I'm hooked to find out what actually happens.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but it looks as though the bidding is not so much for the bike or the brand, but the history this bike represents. British and Hand Crafted/Built.

Funny... I have a better condition (IMO) same era - 1990 Tange Prestige frame bike. OK its a Japanese Muddy Fox (and it's Pink!!) that was probably produced as part of a production line, BUT.... it's the same tubes, it's lugged, has a pump nipple built into the frame, hasn't been patched up and it is as rare as hens teeth (from what I can tell)... However, it would never cause a stir like this bike as a robot most likely built it.

I still (kind of) love my pink Japanese Fox.... (If I keep telling myself this I will like it one day!!).

So, on with the show... WHO IS GOING TO WIN THIS BIKE

Now THAT is the question, is it 'too rare to ride'?

Nah, if I had the money I'd get it, get the damage welded (doesn't look too bad imo), get it touched up by bob jackson then ride and enjoy.

Can't see why a bidder that was willing to part with £1000 for it suddenly loses interest because of it needing a little work. It's not like one in better nick will turn up next week. wonder if the top bidders will come back in towards the end of the auction?

Me too...deffo a rider in my view, though would understand a resto to then hang in a museum (Orange perhaps?)

The thing is there are better condition, handmade UK bikes, from the same era, arguably better renowned frame builders, using the same tubing that are arguably contributed more to the mountain bike scene than this bike that don't cause as much hysteria as this frame seems to, and would certainly not go for the irrational thousand + price tag that this frame was at a couple of days ago. The current price is better but still high in my opinion, considering the work required.

The brand/model is everything mate :)

this is true

i paid less than kona hei hei money for my much-more-expensive-when-new Merlin XLM. people always want the halo model of a brand they loved - mainly because they know it is the ultimate evolution of characteristics they already know they enjoy.
