One inch steerer in a 1 1/4 head tube? Tell me you can :)

I've seen lots of threads before about going down a size with the likes of a Chris King Devolution, but what options are there if you want to run a 1 inch steerer in a one and a quarter / Evolution head tube?

may look daft but you could make shims quite easily

I did - I had a 1 1/4 crown Prostop Suspenders fork and used a fat shim to take the steerer to 1".

Worked fine!

I used a set of these in a Funk I owned a number of years back:

work perfectly, allows you to use a 1" headset and forks in a 1 1/4" bike

Oh, forgot to say, if you have a 1 1/4" crown you can shim that to take a 1" steerer using a Pace crown shim and a pace 1" steerer tube. Works on Pace and Manitou 1 crowns (obviously not on crowns where the steerer is press-fit in)

Awesome guys ... which is as good as it gets according to my 6 year old.
So if I understand correctly;

with Pete's option I'll need a new 1 " headset.

With the Steerer shim I'll need a new 1 " headset? Can you buy these anywhere ?

Is there anything that lets me use the existing 1 1/4 headset?

I heve both crown sizes but I'd rather use the 1" fork for historical reasons
