This quote on that link sums it up:

'So which part of the old Yo Eddy inspired you to make that frame? The poor welding? The ugly gussets or the naff drop outs? Mmmm don't remember the original Fat having any of those things. Pretty poor homage to one of the best steel frames of all time. Maybe you could call it the Apollo Halfords or something more apt. FAIL'

IMO shite....just trying to make money of the back of a trend.

Piss poor :( who is the new on one honcho? he still never answered the question though. Should throw this discussion to singletrack.

i had a good look at mayhem at the new frame its not that badly built it is of course there prototype they had there in bare steel but it was well made for the money non the less, put it this way if it was called something else would this thread even be here i think not its time to stop over analizing brand and product names and just judge them on there ride quality si i though you would have been above all that

Wonder how long it'll be until they pull that comment on their webpage?

Almost regardless of anything else running v brake bosses and disc tabs on any frame is an epic fail imho. Surprised to see a newish Yeti with both on in the classifieds. Why didn't On One stick a canti bridge on too.

No. If On One use a name with such heritage then they should be judged against those standards.

As for the copyrights, trademarks etc. I'm unsure what the deal would be now. If nobody from Fat Chance (by that I mean Chris Chance and his ex-wife) cares then it hardly matters regardless.

How did it ride?

If you are building a homage to a great bike Dan it shouldn't be about price points and value for money. Back in the day if you wanted those things you went to Halfords. If you wanted top quality, craftsman built with top spec custom tubing you went to Fat City, Mountain Goat, Offroad Toal et al. Price had nothing to do with it.
And as for judging on how it will ride, it will be as crap as everything else they make.
I know I give On One a hard time. They make cheap bikes- fine, that's their Market. But for gawds sake, for the 50th time, they are just cheap bikes, nothing else, how folk constantly bang on about how great they are just gets up my nose.
Taking the name of one of the all time retro greats and slapping it on that thing should get up the nose of every true passionate member of RB. If you are not offended by it you are on the wrong forum!

I can't believe I've been drawn into another On One rant, raising my blood pressure again.

Arse!
