I have never had the pleasure of owning a Fat Chance, so I'm hardly a fan-boy like some on here.

Even so, I have mixed feelings about On-One appropriating the name for a new Taiwanese frame.

"V-braked retro beauty, inspired by those brilliant Yo Eddy frames we used to love in the early 90's.

The Reynolds 853 frames will be available early September, graphics and colour schemes TBC.

The retro cash-in shifts into a higher gear??

I'm a little bit offended by the way they say "like we used to love", trying to instill a false sense of mutual interest, like it's one enthousiast talking to an other instead of a cunning buisinessman trying to make money off us.

I wonder which bits of the original 'much loved Yo Eddy' inspired that frame? Could it be the piss poor welding? The ugly gussets? Or those cheap dropouts? Mmm, hold on, the original didn't have those things- we've been had!
I guess it is bike shaped but that's were the similarity ends. Maybe 'Halfords Apollo' would be a more apt name?
No doubt the punctuation dodgers will buy them in there (sic) dozens

Maybe they had a ship-load of those On-One segmented forks lying around (vaguely inspired by FC) and thought they'd make a frame to attach them to?

Surely there must be intellectual property issues here, with whoever now owns Fat Chance brand. ..
If this was the US, surely there'd be a law suit already. .

Don't quote me on this but I think I read somewhere over on Fatcogs that the trade mark rights and intellectual property rights expired last year.
So in theory anyone can start making bikes and call them Fat Chance Yo Eddy's. Just a shame that that person isn't going to the lengths that Chris Chance went to when building the originals.
