I bet there are a few on here mate who collect shelf queens and never ride them!
My mate is like this and must have spent over £50,000 in collecting and restoring
bikes for them never to see day-light again, very shameful indeed.

I get that to a degree - a good bike is a beautiful thing after all. But it's the visceral act of riding well made steel bikes that keeps me interested in the world of the retro bike... these chaps are just caged museum pieces, trapped by some it's-all-about-me with more cash than good sense.

sickening, and what a shameful sight

any bikes with an historic or meaningful background should reside in a Transport Museum
for preservation and public appreciation

anybody collecting a 'marque' is understandable
and appreciated if they are restoring bikes back to originality

these ''hoarders'' are depriving the bikes of their ''Raison d'être''
and enthusiasts from owning the one bike of a lifetime

my ''view''

I don't care where the images came from I just want to know how does he keep everything so clean and does his wife know how much he paid for them

Reminds me of that guy (Poon Kng Joo) in Singapore with the MASSIVE collection in his loft

I could moan all I want about how wrong it is for anyone to possess that many unbuilt, exotic frames but, really I'm just jealous

Sorry, i am seem to have missed the story somewhere - dementia creeping in, but who is the owner of the bikes/frames and why does he have them?

I am not on FB either - and am reluctant to get involved with it - i have seen a few horror stories and do not want involved with it.

Just a collector that an RB member ran across on Facebook who has a lot of old italian bikes. The "issue" came up because it appears that he is collecting at a level that seemed excessive to some members.

Quiet week then? LOL

I am avoiding buying at the moment, the backlog has got too big!
