Old Trek Bike to Restore

Hi there! First of all I'd like to apologize if I'm in the wrong thread.

I'm looking to restore this mountain bike from Trek that's been sitting for ages on our garden, my father said he bought it around 1998, but I can't figure out the model and I've been searching Trek's archive website for days already.

The aluminum frame is still strong, welds are fine as well as the Shimano Alivio set. The rest probably needs replacing but I think I can take it. Any advice or help on identifying this? 20221229_175422.jpg

Hi, I'm not sure that this bike is a Trek model (although VRX models from 2000 to 2002-ish look a bit similar) nor think it's from 1998, but younger (because of the rear disc brake).

Although it's always good to restore and keep old things, my recommendation would be still to look for something else to spend your efforts and money as bike was very likely not even when new a great ride, now maybe the frame itself may still work but bushings, fork and very likely components too may seriously suffer from corrosion and wear.
