twolegs

Old School Hero
just acquired this R J Quinn of Liverpool, with Reynolds 531c and mixed components... diamond in the rough i reckon.. one thing troubles me.. why did the frame makers put two bottle cage bolts on the underside of the down tube? never seen that before.. anyone know? my initial thought was that Quinn were just making use of some leftover tubing!

Nice bike, mainly Suntour Superbe/Cyclone?

The bottle bosses under the down tube are useful if you want to have two bottles but still carry a frame fit pump against the seat tube.
I had a set brazed on there when I had my old F.W. Evans frame resprayed years back.

Mark.

Re:

yeah so it seems from other sites, the chaps are saying its for the extra cage facility, im surprised, especially with my cloddhopper feet, theyd bash into a bottle in no time, but youre making more sense now if its a pump thats fitted down there

youre right its cyclone suntour components with a campy seat post, mavis gp4 wheels with campy hubs, cinelli stem

Touring type frames had them there as well.

It's not my bike but cages are "King Cage" and the bottles are "Kanteen Reflect Steel" from Klean Kanteen.
