ok some silly questions.....

hi all, im restoring a 70's puch pursuit and have come to do the gear and brake cables. im wondering if the cables are any different to modern day before i buy them and find out the are the wrong size of end. it is a simplex downtube shifter. and the brakes are safety lever brakes, weimann i believe. Can i just use normal gear/brake cable for both of these or do i need specialist in terms of the size of the little nodule/stop on the end.

like i say silly question!!
