As most of you are aware, several of us here have and use or are trying to fit early hope c2's to our steed's.
I have the frame adaptor that allows any IS calliper to be fitted, possible its a 2nd Gen hope No2 calliper[But without the calliper bit]
Perfect as i can upgrade from C2 to a modern open system.
But i like/love C2's and dont really have any experience outside the C2 model,so i've bought 3 bikes worth in the hope i can renovate at least a bikes worth out that lot :?
After buying spare seals and attempting to completely strip and clean the C2's , i found it to be an expensive occupation and even at the end of it the brakes still had some faults and didnt operate as i remember they did BITD
So after much heartache i decided to flog the lot off on ebay spare parts and all, then use those funds to finance a new set of something like Oro 24's ,avid 7's,that kind of price range, say £240 tops
I looked after My C2's BITD and they performed fantastic for years[about 6 before i sold them],new pads when needed,a fluid change every 2 yrs and constant cleaning after nearly every ride and always after off road use.
The ones i got from ebay and tried to renovate were in shocking condition and looked like they'd had a sad and hard life with little or no loving tenderness lavished upon them.
There is one of the online bike shops that has New and unused C2's still in their boxes
Total cost for front No3 and rear No5 on pro levers would cost £235[i think the rotors are included]
Should i lose the modern discs option and buy these older but brand new unused C2's
[and they look better on a cobbled together disc mount that some equally high end modern brake
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHH
The decision is driving me head round the twist
Anyone got any opinions on this, that would help me decide :?
