That post isn't an o-beam tho is it?
Yes, it's a 1995 O-Beam, which differs quite a lot from the 94. They kept this more minimalist (but slightly heavier) design from 95 to 98.

Yeh I've got both the 94 and the one pictured didn't know they were classed as the same as they're worlds apart. I'm even learning on a bank holiday how about that!

I'm sorry, perhaps you meant it says Race Light on it - yes, it's a Race Light O-Beam! Which is a straight post, whereas the lay-back posts on the lower models were called plain Race Light.

What a shame to break up such an original bike. And much though I like Flites, they look (and are) wrong on an O-Beam seat post. The rails are too shallow, so the clamp is very close to / occasionally actually touching the business part of the saddle. I didn't ever find it uncomfortable, but it was wearing the saddle. Still you'll have saved a few grammes I suppose.

I don't particularly care that people may think that a Flite doesn't 'look' right. I won't be looking at the bike, I'll be riding it. I prefer Flites, and always have done.

Gotta agree with Anthony.

If you didn't get on with it then you could have kept it & just fitted another. Then if you ever did want to sell the bike then you would still have the original spec

This is assuming that I have the spare cash to buy an additional saddle, which I don't. I sold the Kona saddle to raise some money to put towards a Flite, which I prefer. I'm not looking to sell the bike any time soon and, although it's great that the bike is so original, it's not top of my list of priorities. I'd rather have a bike that I'm comfortable riding ;)

Fair enough Barney knew you must have a reason :)

Thought it would be better off on someone else's Kona rather than sat in my garden shed on the off chance that I might eventually sell the bike ;)
