NOS bits dilemma

Re:

I think we're now back to the classic "how much did your bike cost, mate?? WHAT?? You could buy a car for that!!" argument.

People perceive value in different ways.

I'm sure your timex has far greater functionality than a Rolex.. just like a full sus carbon 29er can cover ground faster than C 26..

For me though, I know which I'd rather have in my garage.

Karma the lot. All done and dusted in a few days. Freedom from the mental anquish of retro. Buy one new cyclo cross boke and ride the shit out of it.

I was actually pleased when I was building up my Merckx when I chipped the paint on the down tube as it meant the spell was broke and I could actually enjoy it.

Tried that (almost), 2 months later the retro bikes were once again multiplying in the man cave.
It's a disease, with no known cure, you can't beat it, so you might as well enjoy it.

If it's not a typo, then it shows we live in an insane world.

Rolex's are the GTs of the watch world. $225K is a drop in the bucket when you look at the high end stuff.

Re:

Not to go back to watches again but Rolex are one of the only manufactures that do everything (except main springs) in house. I know a lot of people don't like what a Rolex stands for but really, Rolex are the Shimano of the watch world. Ubiquitous, but ubiquitous for a reason.

Now back to bikes - get the point about getting a few chips on your NOS stuff to help you relax and enjoy it. Still - that first chip hurts!
