No pressure

it isnt compulsory to go to Uni, so why should it be free, there are plenty of equally good alternatives to uni, i dont know why we are so hung up of sending every kid to there!

I see no problem. If they want to go then pay

Didn't the lib dems say they would not vote for that and the conservatives say they would not do that? Labour are saying they would get rid of them and yet they introduced them.

Their will still be plenty of kids going to uni.

As soon as Bliar decided that at least 50% of school leavers should go to uni, the whole thing was bound to end in tears. We should go back to the system where a smaller number of places were decided on merit rather than trying to get everyone a third in David Beckham Studies.

The point is it was affordable to most under the current system this will create a huge gap and take away that choice, i never went to university and did alright, i agree that you have choices in alot of things that can aid you in your career path other than university.

I came from school with nothing went to College later in life got my ICT and Netwrking quals and ended up teaching it, as a result ended up doing an adult ed certification to allow me to teach, if this system comes in a kid who is bright and could achieve in uni will not get that chance in the future if they come from a poorer background.

And yeah the Lib-Dems had a big campaign on this stating that they wanted to do away with fees, thiss will show how far away from what beliefs they campaigned with will be swept away for a claim to power

Raising the price is a brilliant idea, the trouble with everyone being able to go is that when they leave they are "over qualified  " to do most manual jobs, farm work, care work, road work.......so they sit on the social etc, never paying their student loans off and alot of them never working.

Why is it that my high school, when I left, had an A pass rate of about 12% and this year an A pass rate of about 67% answer because everything is easier today, and kids think because they get an A they are clever  most find simple spelling difficult.

It is all a mess and down to labour education policies which were quite plainly pathetic  I know dozens of local kids who have left uni.and have no job and sit on the dole and wont work because they are "To good" to do any job that comes up,so we have to import labour to do these jobs

It is ridiculous and the only way to solve it is to do as the government are proposing, money for student fees, for a high percentage of students,is a waste as they never pay it back and who do you think gets lumbered with the bill........the opressed tax payer that is who

No problem with that at all....I'm looking forward to a society based on those that can afford it having a moderately decent education (lets face it, Uni's are increasingly profit driven rather than quality-of-education driven) and the rest of the population in low-skills employment or on the dole.
What we could do with is some professional vocational education in tandem with academic studies.
This country is an embarrassment.

Us and them , us and them . The rich get richer and the poor get poorerer .

Edumacation aint worth shit unless daddy pays for the right one .
