The level of wealth is not the issue with who goes to uni......it is the level of intelligence,why send the core of the british work force to uni.so they then come out and find no jobs,and why,also,do they leave uni,with no knowledge that is useful :roll: for god sake you could do a degree in wheelclamping until recently :roll: school leavers should go to work,period,and not go to uni,running up massive debt that they never repay.

This is the actual reason university fees will go up, I'm sure.

I can't remember how much my colleague pays back a month but it's in the region of £5!!!! Borrow £20k+ and pay it back so slowly you don't even cover the interest on the interest!!! No wonder the universities want more cash!

I would also be interested in seeing how much a lecturer gets paid in some of the more spurious courses, I know the 'proper' lecturers are on a good wage , which they should be, but does a lecturer in hair and make up get the same? I hope not.

I agree that universities should accept people on merit, but also perhaps means test the candidates too?

Yes he did,but probably because when he left school (private) he could spell his own name............people (even some on here) who have been to uni.and who I know are dreadfully lacking in their command of the english language,I am no expert but I think my English and history knowledge surpasses alot of uni.Graduates that studied those subjects.They go as an excuse to doss about and learn nothing,there are even people in my direct family that have done so :roll:

Obviously there are exceptions but this is my experience of students too..

Having married a student and stayed in a student dorm. My view hasn't changed on them. Just the wife is an exception She is hard working
