No more weekday rides for me

Cos i got a proper job today

After two years of care work, read not being paid for travelling, long gaps between jobs, poor hourly rate, no sick pay, iffy managment, i have secured a position with my local NHS trust, doing the same type of work, 37.5 hrs a week, no weekends, paid hols, sick pay.

Will miss the quiet mid week rides though.....

Carers get a really bad deal with most companies, long days, and split shifts mean you can start at 0700, finish at 1300, start at 1530, and finish again at 2230, but only just make eight paid hrs. :cry:

Good management will give you minimum, but do-able, travel time to get between calls, so your are nearly back to back, but lately i have had up to 11/2 hrs unpaid gaps in my work.

Looking forward to being in a better place

Good news

I worked as an agency nursing assistant for a bit untill i nabbed a job with my local health board. Much better conditions if not pay within the NHS, you feel a valued resource not just a commodity to be pushed around.
NEVER work for the BNA, complete bunch of bar stewards :roll:

Got Heidi a steed that fits and she's giving me a run for my money at the moment! Looking forawrd to some more rides and more sunshine mate

Wow, that's a lot of holiday.

Scarface and I were thinking about a ride very soon. Maybe your run up high salvington and round, or possibly one of the two new ones you sent me (longer of the two, i suspect)

knee is good, racked up more than a few miles this month already without complaint.
