Clegg to me is finished and forgotten about, he sold out on his policies and tried to sell us something else, the wonder is, does he realise he is over the hill and washed up, for the liberals will not be trusted again by many, he has killed his party and we are sadlled with a lunatic bent on ideaology and personal kudos.

Nail and head mate.

No bandwagon too slow, eh?

It's easy and lazy to see Clegg in an entirely negative light - but what is it people would have him do? Dunno why I'm defending him - I just think it's now fashionable to see him as this pariah, this scapegoat.

Is it peoples' intention he should have refused to form a coalition? Or is it peoples' belief that he should have wielded more power than he really could in some key policy decisions?

He wouldn't be the first (and in reality, probably joins a long list) of politicians to have a grasp on what to do whilst struggling to get power, and once (kinda) got it, realising that all the politics have to be largely put aside to actually get on with the job.

There are two forces that govern this country, and you can't vote for either of them: Europe & the economy.

Whoever had won the election last year would have had to do what the coalition has done, even if it had been the Labour party or the Lib Dems on their own. As Vince Cable said "We'd love to be Father Christmas and give out presents to everyone, but the state of the economy won't let us do that".
