Newbie frame question

Hi all, hoping to start my retro bike collection of with a steel Kona.
Just one problem, what size frame?
I'm 6ft 2" and currently ride 19" Rocky mountain vertex
and an 18" Orange 5 if this helps.
Thanks in advance
Rich

All a question of personal preference really, and body shape.

I'm 6'2 and can ride either an 18" or 19" Kona. I slightly prefer the 19" but with a long seatpost and longer stem the 18" is fine too...

I have monkey arms so don't find any issue with running long stems, other people may not like that style but as i say it's so personal there is no hard and fast rule by height..

Doesn't really help much does it..

I'm 6'1" and my '94 Kilauea's a 20", 330mm seatpost, 120mm stem. I've been thinking about trying a 19", but I'm fine on the 20".

Bear in mind that top tubes are a touch shorter pre '94.

All depends what kind of riding you like to do - if it's tight techy type stuff, then you would probably be happier with a smaller frame ( for increased standover clearance and chuckability. If it's faster, more flowing riding you do then maybe a larger frame would give you a more efficient riding position.

For example - a friend of mine (who is 6' 1" ) rides a 19" Orange Prestige with a whopping 150mm long stem and the saddle as far back on the rails as he can get it because he thinks that it gives him a more "efficient" riding position. Only thing is, it doesn't cut it when the going gets slow, technical and steep (up or down) - he can't "centre" himself on the bike enough or, with the long stem, get his weight back far enough on steep drop-offs or easily carry the front wheel over logs and rocks. The result is predictable and sometimes painful....

I'm not as tall (5'10") but I like short setups - I use in-line seatposts, short (70-80mm) stems and I especially like small feeling frames like my 17.5" 2006 RM Blizzard. The fact is, I just love that bike
Different strokes for different folks I guess 8)

Thanks for the advice people, i thought an 18" or 19"frame but wasn't sure.
I should be ok with either as like you Hilts i've also been blessed
with 'monkey arms'
Thanks again
Rich
