New to me Zaskar

TMC

Retro Newbie
Hey people , new member and longtime rider here! I have had many bikes in my lifetime (62years young) but just picked up my first Zaskar!
Over the years l have had numerous opportunities to buy a used Zaskar but never pulled the trigger for one reason or another ( no money, to many bikes , feeling guilty about spending the money etc. ) and hemmed and hawed until the bike l was looking at was gone , you know the drill! Until the next one gets spotted only to repeat the drill again! Well it finally happened ...saw a bike on my local CL contacted the guy (it was on CL for 25 days before l saw it) took him 2 days to contact me , l thought it was sold by then and l was safe but he got back to me and still had it and l Bought It !!! It's an early Zaskar with frame #07911991 . I don't know about you but that number just blew me away after all these years of waiting to buy one! The son was selling it for his dad whom won the frame back in the day and had it built up with a Shimano XT groppo. The gentleman is 80 years old and can't ride anymore. At some point he put on tri bars to ride with his buddies. Bike is in great shape pics are as purchased...needs some decals but the bike is sweet. Gotta get the bars off and some knobbies and ride!

Fantastic find!Looks to be in incredible nick.Especially for that age.And after the frustration of searching/missing out, just makes it a bigger victory and I'm sure worth waiting for.Not much to do there (except the obvious!).
Is that a flexi-stem??Must ride like a rowing machine! 😂
I know a man who might like the bars...

@Matttymm ?Need yours a bit higher still? These have got a bit of flex so the bars will be easier on the gums! And there's a rest for your tooth👍

Thank God for quick releases and whenever anyone on this site sees my bike it has the seat so high you would need to be 7’ 2” and an inside leg of 4 foot to get on it.
(Thanks for the kind offer mate!!)

Thanks for all of the replies! And as Frown replied CL is Craigslist, l live in Pacific Grove , California and found the bike in the Monterey CL bike section. And grey-beard your " what the what?" comment had the wife and l cracking up so hard! I kinda did a crappy job with picks yesterday so here are a few more and good eye captaincowelly , Girvin flex stem was included at no additional cost! Now on to the pics !

That look mint! Great score. That bar is a Scott AT-4, mounted upside down. Not to everyone's taste but used by many back in the day and still coveted by some. I fitted them to my Kona Explosif build back in 2019
